As a sea captain, Tristram moved with his wife from Yarmouth in 1643-1648 to Barnstable, where he was a leading citizen, though in trouble at times for his sympathy toward Quakers. His will was 30 Dec. 1666.

Notes for HOPEWELL HULL:

Hopewell Hull was one of the founders of Piscataway, New Jersey. His Quaker marriage to Mary Martin, Daughter of John and Esther (Roberts), was not recognized by New Jersey authorities, who ordered them to re-marry 29 December 1669, when they complied. He was active in public affairs until his death. His will names wife, sons Hopewell and Joseph, daughters and brother Benjamin.

Notes for NAOMI HULL:

Naomi was placed in the family of Samuel Symonds, Esquire, at Ipswich, before her father went to England. She was still there April-June 1661. Before the court as Amy H. in 1667, her father's old neighbor William Williams sheltered her and was fined for doing so. Her children were placed in the care of John Church. She married Davy Daniel, and in 1682 was the center of more trouble by speeches against her brother and sister, Mathews and others.

Joanna HULL (Joseph3, Thomas2, Richard1). Born ca 1620 in Somersetshire, England. Joanna died aft 1683; she was 63. In 1639 when Joanna was 19, she first married Capt. John BURSLEY. Born in Of Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. They had the following children:

i. Joanna. Born bef 1 Mar 1642/1643. At the age of <1, Joanna was baptized on 1 Mar 1642/1643. Joanna died on 8 May 1727; she was 85. In 1661 when Joanna was 18, she married Shubael DIMMOCK.

ii. Mary. Born bef 29 Jul 1643. At the age of <1, Mary was baptized on 29 Jul 1643. In 1663 when Mary was 19, she married John CROCKER.

iii. Jemima. Born ca 1644. At the age of <1, Jemima was baptized in 1644.

v. John. Born bef 11 Apr 1652 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. At the age of <1, John was baptized in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA, on 11 Apr 1652. John died in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA, on 5 Aug 1726; he was 74. In Dec 1673 when John was 21, he married Elizabeth HOWLAND, daughter of John HOWLAND & Mary LEE, in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. Born on 17 May 1655 in Marshfield, Plymouth Co., MA. Elizabeth died aft 30 Jan 1695/1696; she was 39.
