About Joanna Cruttenden (Sheaffe)

Joanna Sheaffe was sister of Dorothy, wife of Rev. Henry Whitfield, leader of the colony expedition to the new world. Under her descendant, Henry W. Chittenden, husband of Griffing, son of Abraham, has in his notes in the Chittenden book, "priding himself upon his ancestral blood, especially in the Sheaffe line, which he claimed to be 'allied to royalty,' going back to the lines of the kings of Scotland.
