Joey was the son of Jasper and Narcissus Lowry Sampson.

The following was taken from the Jan. 6, 1976 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Joey Sampson, 78, of Rt. 8, Lumberton, died suddenly at his home today. Funeral plans are incomplete at this time.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Flora Sampson of the home; one brother, B. B. Sampson of Lumberton; two sisters, Mrs. Nody Locklear and Mrs. Tessie Locklear, both of Lumberton.
