Biography

Johann Heinrich Meichsner arrived in Nova Scotia on the GALE in 1751. He was from East Saxony, Germany born c.1730.After arriving in Halifax, Johann moved to Lunenburg to establish the town. The town was occupied by the French Acadians who were Catholics.Church of England (Protestants) wanted to conquer the land and declare it English Territory. The Church of England (who ruled a lot of Eastern Europe at that time)gave lots of land to followers of the Church in hopes of acquiring the Territory.Johann was a Baker in Germany and joined the Militia were he actually fought the French and Indians. He met and married Maria Dorothea (Earnst or Trebor). Now, there are records stating her surname was Hehn orHohnin. They had at least eight children - Three Males: Andrew Leonard. Johann Heinrich. Godfrey and five daughters (see descendants). Andrew Leonard moved to Windsor and became a farmer. Johann Heinrich stayed in Lunenburg and became a fisherman and Godfrey did the same.
