ACCOUNT OF FUNERAL

Many Salt Barnes Funeral

Heber J. Grant is the Chief Speaker at Services for Kaysville Man.

Kaysville, Jan. 26, Many prominent men from Salt Lake, Ogden, and other points in Utah gathered here at noon today to attend the funeral of John R. Barnes, Churchman, Banker, farmer and merchant, whose death occurred Tuesday night. The funeral was held at the Kaysville Tabernacle, and one of the features of the funeral was the floral offerings by business interests of Salt Lake and Kaysville with which Mr. Barnes had been identified. One hundred employees of Zion's Co-operative Mercantile institution of Salt Lake attended in a body.

Honorary pallbearers were: Heber J. Grant, Anthon H. Lund, Anthony W. Ivins, George Albert Smith, William W. Piter, John C. Cutler and William McIntyre of Salt Lake; John Watson, Ogden; Ephraim P. Ellison, Layton; James A. Eldredge, Woods Cross; Arthur Pardons and S. S. Tingey, Salt. Active pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Barnes.

One of the unusual feathers of funeral was the reading of the statement of his faith prepared by Mr. Barnes for his funeral, in 1915. It was read by a son-in-law, Henry H. Blood.

Heber J. Grant was the chief speaker, while eulogies were made also by President Ellison of Layton and Bishop George Romney of Salt Lake. The invocation was by President John Watson of Ogden , the benediction by Heber J. Sheffield of Kaysville, while the grave was dedicated by Bishop Tingey of Salt Lake. The services were conducted by James Criddle.
