John Burn HARRISON was born on 12 Dec 1823 in London, England. After teaching school for four years in France, he emigrated on 16 May 1848 from London.  On 26 Aug 1848, he arrived in Adelaide, South Australia on ship "Constance".  He was a Professor of French between 1850 and 1852 in St Peter's College, Adelaide, SA. Wrote: 

"Rules on the Orthography of the French Verbs" Pub 1850

"The Conjugation of the French Verbs" Pub 1850

Returned to teach at St Peter's from 1859 to 1864. In 1861 helped found Napoleon Mining Co. Sold his interests to Moonta Mining Corp. in 1865. He emigrated about 1865 from Adelaide, SA to San Francisco, California. He worked in San Francisco as a Railroad Auditor and Accountant. He was naturalized on 1 Sep 1873 in 4th US District Court. He was married to Ruth NICOLL on 17 Dec 1853 in Adelaide. He died on 6 Jun 1893 in San Francisco.
