VIRGINIA BEACH - John David Gibb, 73, died peacefully in his home Jan. 18, 2006. John was born in Staten Island, N.Y., April 6, 1932, and moved to Chestertown in 1946. He graduated from Chestertown Central School in 1950. He then joined the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean War. For the past 30 years, he lived in Virginia Beach and worked in numerous hardware stores including True Value. For the past five years he worked as a courier for Sentara.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan E. Gibb and is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Allen and husband Eric and Kelli Tyler and husband Randy; sons, John R. Gibb and wife Elaine and James Gibb and wife Charlene; daughter, Patricia Gramaglia and husband Sal; a son, Bill Gibb and wife Beth; 14 grandchildren; and a sister, Linda VanGuysling and husband Peter.

John was very well liked by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of his life in their home at 3298 Harlie Court, Virginia Beach, today from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the charity of ones choice.
