John was one of the heroes under Capt. Michael Pierce of Scituate, who fell when Capt. Pierce and nearly all of his men were slain in the Rehoboth battle in 1676, better known as the Pawtucket Fight, in which Capt. Pierce and more than 60 of his men were slain on 26 Mar 1676, the Sabbath.
Although John’s wife Elizabeth is listed in various genealogies (such as the Jacob Turner’s 1852 Turner genealogy108) as Elizabeth Wade, a daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth, John’s wife, who is not mentioned in his will, is unknown
