Disembarked Carpathia: New York City on Thursday 18th April 1912
John "Jack" Foley, 44, was born in York. He appears to have signed-on to the Titanic initially in Belfast on 25 March 1912 as a quartermaster. When he signed on to the Titanic on 6 April 1912, he gave his address as 2 Queen's Road (Southampton). His previous ship was the Olympic. His wages were £5 per month.
Foley claimed to have helped Seaman "Sam Parks" search for an axe to chop away the sounding spar protruding directly below lifeboat 4 [1].
Foley was rescued in lifeboat 4.
Foley signed-on to the Oceanic on 10 July 1912 but failed to join the ship when it sailed.
