Enlisted in 1780; fought as a Private in the American Revolution during the Battles of Camden, Guilford Courthouse, and Brown's Marsh; Lived in North Carolina for 5-6 years after the Revolution; Moved to Pendleton, South Carolina about 1787; Moved to Sumner County, Tennessee through Muscle Shoals (probably) and traveling by the TN river to Sumner County; Lived 3 years in Sumner County and moved to Smith County; Moved to Robinson County three years later; In 1821, moved to Huntingdon (Carroll County) where he was one of the first citizens and elected as a Justice of the Peace along with his brother Edward.
