John Carroll served in the Revolutionary War. He fought at the Battle of Huck's Defeat in Brattonsville SC and according to information from the DAR was the person responsible for killing Captain Huck the leader of the Loyalists. The Battle of Huck's Defeat was an important skirmish and was followed by the Loyalist's defeat at the Battle of Kings Mountain.
