John Irby, son of Anthony and Alice (Bountaine) Irby, was born befefore 1520 and died on 10 Apr 1553. He married Rose Overton, daughter of Cutler Overton. She married after his death, Richard Buckland, Esquire of Clerkenwell, Middlesex, who died in 1558, and as her thrid husband Richard Beawe, Gen., of London, whom she survived. She died in 1579.

In 1544, John Irby, Gentleman, witnessed the will of Humphrey Purey of Kirton, Lincoln. According to the visitation pedigree, he was lord of the manor of Leighthorpe in Cawthorpe and of lands in Beston, Sutterton and Bicker.
