About John Lee, Jr.
John Lee was married to Izalene May Richards, my (Rolando's) great great aunt and my grandmother's namesake--hence my interest.
John Lee, Jr.'s relationship to the Lee family--specifically as the son of John Lee the brickworker b. 1938 and the wife of Anna Darkins--is inferred from the following:
- In the 1896 Athens census he is listed below the brick burner John Lee as John lee, Jr.
- There is a John Lee age 10 listed in the 1880 census in that home
John Lee also appears as first the grandparent (1920 census) and then the uncle (1930) of John and Dorothy Lee (b 1916 and 1917 respectively). One possibility is that these are children of one of his siblings. As he is the youngest known male Lee sibling, this seems unlikely (if not impossible) as John was already in his late 40s at the time of their births and any male sibling would have been in their 50s. Also possible is that these are the children of Arnold C.B. Lee, his eldest child b. 1895. Arnold appears in the 1910 census in the John Lee household but disappears thereafter.
There exists a John B. Lee married to Emily with three children, in the 1895 New York census for Athens. Other documents show that he is the child of George Lee, not John Lee.
