About John Isaac Mann

He served in the military in 1777 in Saratoga, NY. He and his brothers Isaac Jr., and Thomas, joined General Burgoyne on his campaign to Saratoga in 1777, serving with Jessup Corp of Loyal Rangers of the Kings Royal Regiment of NY (KRR-NY) on October 24, 1783. John as an Ensign, Isaac Jr., as Quartermaster and Lieutenant. Two younger brothers, Edward and William had enlisted in the KRR-NY earlier in February 1780. The master roll of the regiment indicates that John was born in the American colonies and that he was an attorney by profession and that his family consisted of his wife and 2 daughters. In 1784 he was in St Johns, Quebec serving as commissary of loyalist there. He, his brother William, and their father Edward Isaac Sr.,did not arrive on the brig Polly as had John's other 3 brothers. They were probably engaged in exploring the 2520 acres at Cross-point later granted to them.
