About John Mowry

John Morey served on a committee in Providence, Rhode Island to decide what to do with the Indians taken captive and being held there following King Philip's War. The meeting took place 2 days following the end of the war- August 14, 1676. It was decided the Indians should be sold as slaves, as the committee felt that would be more humane than execution.
