JOHN PUTERBAUGH was born in Frederick Co., Maryland and died on October 9. 1841 in Vaughan Twp., York Co., Ontario. He married about 1794 to Catherine Van Buskirk (ca1774-Nov. 29, 1843). They are both buried in the Edgeley Mennonite Cemetery, York Co., Ontario. 10, For many years members of the Puterbaugh family appeared in the mid-west who reported to have been born in Canada. Some time ago a Bible record was found of the family of John, son of Immigrant Peter Sr, which stated that he left Pennsylvania about 1808 with a wife and eight children. and that five other children were born in York County, Ontario.2 A fairly good record of this family has now been found, thanks to several Canadian researchers.11 John owned a twohundred acre farm in York County, known as Lot number 13, 5th Con. In his will, he named thirteen children and wife, Catharine.
