

Master of Arts of Harvard in 1697, lived first at Redding, Conn., but after 1722 in Boston. In 1723 he was appointed attorney-general of Massachusetts, in 1735 he was elected a warden of King's Chapel, and in 1742 he was appointed a member of the Massachusetts Council.

Admitted to full communion in the First Church of Hartford, Nov. 12, 1697. Graduate of Harvard College and an eminent lawyer in Boston who had also trained for the ministry. He purchesed lands of the Indians between Fairfield and Danbury, and became involved in extended litigations. He removed to Boston in 1722. Was several times chosen Attorney General of the Province of Massachusetts.
