About John Warner, Jr.

In 1652, John Warner Sr, hastily departed Rhode Island under unpleasant circumstances (ie pending criminal charges) & returned to England, with entire family, except wife Priscilla who'd recently died & daughter Rachel. Of the family, only Rachel did not return to England. Years later, John Warner,Jr would return in attempt to reclaim his late Father's properties/holdings.

John, son of John and Priscilla (Holman) Warner was born at Shawomet Settlement, Rhode Island Colony and Providence Plantations.

Residence: Warwick, RI.

1655, June 4- The Town Council of Providence, RI, ordered that the care of John Warner, his child be transferred to Mr. Holliman, with his house at Warwick, RI, and all other rights belonging to said Warner.

1659, February 2- He was "by consent of overseers or fathers" bound apprentice unto William Field of Providence, RI, for seven years stating 1 August 1659. One condition of this apprenticeship was that he could not frequent taverns or alehouses.

1665, February 19- He drew lot 14, in a division of lands.

1665, May 31- He had a legacy of a young mare from will of William Field.

1668, Februay 22- He made an agreement with Mary Holliman, widow of Ezekiel, to mow the grass in her meadow yearly for her use, and gave her liberty to be buried by her husband Ezekiel Holliman, she surrendering to said Warner the house she now dwells in, etc.

1672, 74, 79, 83, 85, 90- Deputy.

1682, May 19- He sold certain land in Providence neck to Stephen Arnold. The land belonged in original right to John's grandfather, Ezekiel Holliman.

1688- Grand Jury.

1702- He gave 6 shillings toward building the meeting house for Quakers at Mashapaug.

1708, January 6- He deeded youngest son Ezekiel, "all my right in purchase of Mashantatack", and also certain land in Warwick, RI.

1710, August 19- He deeded eldest son john, land in Coweset.

1712, May 26- Administration of estate. Inventory valued at 84 pounds, 10 shillings, 8 pence.
