About John Warner, Capt.

John was one of the first settlers at the South Farms, in New Milford, about 1725, and became one of the large landholders and a man of influence in the community, in town, ecclesiastical and military affaris. He was a member of the Second Military Company, organized in 1744, Captain of the company in 1751, Lieutenant of the 5th Company in the 6th regiment of the Colony in 1754, and Captain of the same in 1756. He was interested in the iron works and petitioned the town for the privilege of utilizing the ore in 1758.
