John Edmond was the son of James Amos and Nancy Oxendine Woodell.
He married Minnie Sanderson on Apr. 24, 1905 in the Burnt Swamp section of Robeson county, North Carolina.
The following was taken from the Oct. 24, 1946 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
John E. Woodell, 61, died at his home in Pembroke Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. He had been employed at Pates Supply Co. for some 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Woodell; 3 sons, Lacy Woodell of Clayton, N. J. Zeb Woodell of Philadelphia, Pa., and Leon F. Woodell of Pembroke; six daughters, Mrs. Charles Chavis of Rowland, R. 1, Mrs. D. W. Locklear of Philadelphia, Mrs. Van Sampson and Mrs. Langford Godwin of Pembroke, Mrs. J. N. Walker of Mill Springs, Mrs. J. Mark Lockelar of Fairmont, Rt. 3; three brothers in Pembroke and two in Macon, Ga.; and 7 sisters, all of Pembroke.
Funeral services will be held Friday, the hour not having yet been set. Interment will be in Oxendine cemetery near Pembroke.
Mr. Woodell was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church.
