He came with his family to Kansas in the spring of 1871, and came to Abilene, Kansas, April 15 of that year, and has resided in Dickinson county ever since.

He united in marriage with Harriet E. Clemence, March 11, 1885, with Elder Clark officiating. His wife passed away December 28, 1907.

There were born to this union one son, Frank, who passed away November 16, 1937; two daughters, Mrs. William J. Mauldin of the home, and Mrs. Henry J. Kohler of Arboles, Colorado.
