About Jolene Gail New (Carroll)

Jolene Carroll NewBLOOMINGTON — Jolene Carroll New, 55, Bloomington, passed away at 5:45 a.m. June 16, 2010, at Bloomington Rehabilitation Center, Bloomington.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will be one hour prior to service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Rehabilitation Center. A lunch will follow the services at 12:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge on IAA Drive, Bloomington.

She was born July 15, 1954, in Bloomington, the daughter of Joseph Paul and Jeanne Leetch Carroll. She married Clarence New Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence, Bloomington; two sons, Tyson (Roxanna Marlett) Carroll, Normal, and Tynan New, Bloomington; two grandchildren, Samantha Carroll Marlett and Jazmine New; four brothers, Gary Carroll, Rick Carroll, Bruce (Tina) Carroll and Denny (Pat) Carroll Sr.; three sisters, Candy (Buster) Funk, Misty (Rod) Phillips and Christa (Donnie) Blewett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jeanne Carroll; one sister, Betty Lee Sledge Higgs; and two nephews and one niece.

Jolene drove a school bus for over 20 years for Head Start and District 87 before leaving due to medical reasons. She loved to socialize with anyone she could and was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Bloomington. Nothing was more exciting to her than to carry a note to a Patsy Cline song at a karaoke night somewhere. Jolene fought a hard battle with life for many years, but would still stop and help anyone with anything she could. Her granddaughter, Sammy Jo, was the highlight of the last four years of her life. She will be missed by many and remembered by everyone whose lives she touched.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bloomington Rehab for all their hard work.

Online condolences may be submitted to www.EastLawn-Bloomington.com.
