Several Hassidic Tzaddiks moved their seats to Ostrog, among them the grandsons of R. Yaakov-Yosef Sfarad, R. Alter Mordechai and R. Yaakov-Yosef of Konev, as well as R. Avraham of Ostrog-Shumsk of the Zlochev dynasty. The latter two perished in the Holocaust. The son of R. Alter Mordechai, R. Zeev Volf Sfarad, served as a dayyan (religious judge) in Ostrog. In 1932 the community commemorated the 300 year anniversary of the MaHaRSHA's death.

Sfarad Josef
Josef Sfarad was born in Ostrog in 1895. He was a rabbi and married to Khaia nee Mlovitzki and had a daughter Perl. Prior to WWII he lived in Ostrog, Poland. During the war he was in Ostrog, Poland.
