About Joseph Bartlett Mckee

In an article written in 1967 on Great Aunt Maggie (Mc Kee) Jeffers [his niece] and her husband it said two carpenters built them a barn and that in 1967 it was 53 years old that meant it would of been built c. 1914. My father spoke of those two carpenters as being his Great Uncles Joseph Bartlett and David Henry Mc Kee

State of Indiana, Owen county } ss:
Before me Joseph H. McKee a Notary Public personally came Joseph B. McKee and Margaret E. McKee his wife and acknowledged the execution of the annexed deed

In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and official this 22 day of December 1873 /s/J. H. McKee, Notary Public I hereby certify that the deed of which the above is a true copy was duly recorded on the 18" day of April 1874 at 9 a.m. /s/ Emanuel Fulk, R.O.C.

His death certificate of states that he was widowed when he died - I am assuming who ever gave the information had no knowledge of his marital status - - tho at this point I am still not dure of what it was - Margaret was very much alive when he died - - it is possible they were divorced. as recently found the family in the 1900 census in Indianapolis - and lists Magaret as 'Maggie ' abd that she was widow widowed yet joseph was still very much alive the 1910 lists her as married and then the 1920 again listed her was a widow -

for years all there was - was the marriage date written on a piece of paper that listed all his siblings their birth date, spouse, marriage date
