About Joseph Eades

Hawera & Normanby Star, Volume XIX, Issue 2312, 28 December 1892, Page 2:

A Temperance Lesson

Joseph Eades, aged about 30 years, was found dead about five miles from Palmerston North yesterday morning.

(Our Own Correspondent)

Palmerston North. This Day.

Further particulars in regard to the death of the man Eades show that he was in the company with a man named Johnson who was found lying drunk on the Karere road. Both men were placed in a ditch out of the way of passing vehicles by Mr McEwan residing at Karere. On the following morning McEwan went to see if the two men were alright, and found Eades dead. Johnson had dissapeared. Both men had been seen riding along the road during the day previous in a state of intoxication, both riding the one horse. Eades leaves a wife and large family.
