

Joseph was mugged in New York City. He was hit on the head with a pipe and died soon afterwards.
Notes from Ed Shea: Kenny Bode (May's 1st born son) lived with Joseph in his apartment on 129 Madison Ave. in Manhattan. Kenny found him dead. Joseph never married or had any children. He was drafted in the Army in 1943; he was in the anti aircraft outfit. Joseph got out Dec. 1945 (near the end of the summer). He served 2 1/2 years.
