(son of George Wintle and Elizabeth Sewell). Born February 29, 1840, Yarmouth, England. Came to Utah 1857, James Brown company.

   Married:	Sarah Jane Evans in September, 1862, at West Weber, Utah, who was born April 24, 1843, in England and drowned in Weber River February 12, 1863.
   Married:	Mary Marinda Wilson April 2, 1863, at West Weber (daughter of Bradley Barlow Wilson born October 11, 1806, died January 12, 1874, at Wilson, Utah, and -Agnes Hunter, died February 7, 1886, at Ogden, Utah; pioneers 1853, John W. Cooley company). She was born May 15, 1842, Nauvoo, Illinois; died November 11, 1911, Ogden, Utah.
   Their children:
           Agnes born May 9, 1864, married A. T. Waldram October 2, 1884;
           George B. born October 6, 1865, married Elizabeth Wilson November 18, 1885;
           Elizabeth born July 5, 1867, died March 15, 1869;
           Joseph C. born December 10, 1868, married Nora Rex March 16, 1892;
           John Wesley born May 20, 1870, married Daisy Louella Stone August 5, 1908;
           Adeline born April 22, 1872, died June 28, 1873;
           Mary A. born February 22, 1874, married Charles Malan May 27, 1891;
           Sarah born February 6, 1876, died August 23, 1876;
           Ellen M. born July 19, 1877, married Orson Covington;
           Clarence (twin) born October 17, 1879;
           Lawrence (twin) born October 17, 1879, died November 30, 1879;
           Maud R. born July 20, 1881, married John Wykes November 21, 1901;
           Austin T. born October 17, 1883, married Hazel Spiers July 31, 1909;
           Grace born July 29, 1886, married Thomas R. Doran November 6, 1909.

Assisted immigrants to Utah from the Missouri River 1861. Pony express rider from Fort Carney on the South Platte River to Cottonwood Springs, a distance of 110 miles, being the first to carry west news of Abraham Lincoln’s election. Resided at Wilson 1863-70; at Hooper 15 years, then returned to Wilson; thence in 1902 to Ogden. Sources:
