My mother, Eliza Dana, was a daughter of Francis Dana, son of Francis Dana of Massachusetts.

During 1845, father aided in completing the carpenter work on the Mormon temple in Nauvoo, and assisted in defending the city from the mob that subsequently expelled the Mormons from Illinois..."
