In the 1880 and 1900 US Census the family is living in DeWitt, Clinton, Iowa. and Cyrus is a farm laborer. Both of Cyrus’ parents are shown as born in Canada. In the indexing for the 1880 US Census on p#10 District 302, Eden, Clinton, Iowa there is an Apalena QUICK shown as age 41, born in Canada as are both parents, widowed and farming (the enumeration is very poorly written with strike-throughs, etc. but still somewhat legible). The Ancestry indexing indicates she (he?) is living with Hamilton and family and has “something other than a direct relationship” When “view original image” is pressed, it takes you to the census page for Hamilton QUICK, where Apalena is listed apparently on a separate farm. Is this Josiah’s (Cyrus’) mother? In 1910 Josiah and family are living in Cass County Minnesota with Marie and Iva where Josiah is a farmer, with Ray and Howard (wife, Lillian) shown as farm laborers, Roy works in a saw mill and Marie is a waitress. In the 1920 US Census Josiah is enumerated as “Jessie M.” and is living with Raymond, Amanda and Melvin in Birch Lake, Cass, Minnesota..
