Juan Yap was a Chinese merchant in the Parian district of Cebu. Together with his wife Maria Florido, he built his home in the 17th century on present-day 155 Lopez Jaena corner Mabini Streets, Cebu. The building was passed on to his oldest daughter, Maria, who married an immigrant from Bulacan, Mariano Sandiego. The structure is now known as the Yap-Sandiego Heritage House, one of the oldest residential structures in the Philippines.
