About ? Bunzel

The Bunzl lineage has been traced by David Solomon and others to the Rabbi Judah Loew, (1525-1609) also known as the Maharal of Prague - see Path. The Maharal was recognized as one of the most seminal thinkers in the post-medieval period. He developed an entirely new approach to the aggada of the Talmud. His works include a major commentary on Rashi's commentary on the Pentateuch, volumes on Passover in all its facets, on exile and redemption, on Torah, on Pirkei Avot, on Drashot Chazal and on development of character.

The Bunzl family also connects to the famous Teomim and Heller-Wallerstein rabbinic families that have been researched back to the year 1020 in Spain and includes Rashi (Rabbi Solomon Isacc) as an ancestor.
