About Jules François Armand François Armand de Polignac

Jules, 1st Duke of Polignac was a French nobleman and husband of Yolande de Polastron, the confidant of Queen Marie Antoinette. He was the first Duke of Polignac. He died at the age of seventy one.

Born Jules François Armand on June 7, 1746 at Claye-Souilly to Louis Héracle Armand de Polignac, Marquis of Polignac and his wife, Diane Adélaide Zéphirine Mancini herself a grand daughter of the Duke of Nevers and the Duke of Noailles. He bore the title of Marquis of Mancini. He was the couples fourth child (out of five) and their second son.

On 7 July 1767 he married Gabrielle Yolande Claude de Polastron. His wife was later the favourite of Marie Antoinette. As a result, Jules was created a duke on 20 September 1780. At the revolution, he fled France and died in Saint Petersburg at the age of 71. The Prince of Monaco is a descendant of Jules and his wife.
