About Jurgen Hanekom, SV/PROG

Arrives c.1708 at the Cape of Good Hope. Originally from Rathlosen near Solingen in Germany. In 1713 he was promoted to corporal. Later he became a free burgher and lived on the farm "De Natte Valley" between Paarl and Stellenbosch. In 9.12.1750 he handed in a membership-certificate (church?) at Cape Town (GISA p.69). Sometimes he signed his name as Joors Hannekoom and at other times as Jurgen Hannekom.
