Katie May Price (by Lorenzo, Phyllis and Wanda Rich)
Katie May Price was the daughter of Robert Price and Susannah Juchau. She was born at Paris, Idaho, March 9, 1876, and died in Rexburg, Idaho, June 20, 1955, the aftermath of fractured bones sustained in a fall. She was educated and lived all her life in Paris. She spent several summers as a child on the Cooperative Dairy at Nounan where her father was manager and later was a clerk in the store that was operated in Paris by the same organization.
She was an accomplished seamstress, and made most of the family clothes. In keeping with the austere times, this talent necessarily included designing and drafting her own patterns which today is considered a skilled and well paid profession. She frequently sewed for others in the community. Her interest and ability in this area also included crocheting, knitting, quilting, rug making, embroidery, etc. These activities occupied much of her time up until her eyesight failed in her declining years.
She was active in the LDS church, serving in the presidency of the 1st Ward Relief Society under Annie Clayton, where she planned and managed the handiwork projects of the organization. Katie was interested in music and was a member of the stake choir. This group preformed in adjacent takes, going to such communities as Afton, Wyoming with entertainment.
