About Khan Sahib A.Salim Khan

Late Khan Sahib Abdul Salim Khan, Tarin, IPS/FSP (1907-1957) was the son of Nawabzada Khan Abdel Majid Khan Tarin, OBE, of Talokar in Hazara, NWFP, British India (now Pakistan). He obtained his MA (Master's) degree from the famous Government College of the University of the Punjab, Lahore, in 1932. He served in the NWFP provincial civil service and later in the Indian Political Service, and after August 1947, in the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP). During his tenure in the FSP he served as Pakistan's first Charge D 'Affaires in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), Pakistan first Charge D'Affaires /Ambassador in Japan, Consul at New York and San Francisco (USA) and Deputy High Commissioner in London (UK), at the time of his demise. He was married to Begum Mahmooda Salim Khan (1913-2007), who later served as Pakistan's first woman minister.
