In the spring of 1880 Kihcimohkomam drowned while canoeing in Sandy Lake. It was a Sunday in the spring, when the lake was still partly covered with ice. The people sitting in the churchyard saw the canoe's prow tip up out of the lake and Kihcimohkomamslid into the water. His body and the canoe were never recovered.
