The Voice UK

In her blind audition Bruce sang the David Guetta/Usher hit "Without You". Coaches will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue turned round in a bid to add Bo to their teams. Danny first. Bo opted to join Team Danny as she felt that she and Danny had the most in common. In the battle round Bo sang against fellow Team Danny artist Vince Freeman. The pair duetted on the U2 classic "With or Without You". Danny chose to take Bo through to the live rounds. In her first live show on 5 May 2012, Bo sang "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush. Bo received praise from all four coaches and was voted through to the next round of the competition with the viewers' vote. Bruce received the praise of the songwriter Kate Bush, who posted a message to Bo on Twitter, Facebook and katebush.com. In the statement Bush congratulated Bruce on her "fantastic performance". Bush also stated that she thought Bruce's performance was "really beautiful and moving" and also said that she "felt so proud of Bo". She also wished Bo luck in the competition.

In her second live show on 19 May 2012 Bo sang 'Love The Way You Lie' by Rihanna. Bruce received praise from the coaches and will.i.am commented that Bo "sang a million times better than Rihanna." In the results show, broadcast on 20 May 2012 it was announced that Bo Bruce had received the most public votes of all remaining Team Danny acts and would therefore progress immediately onto the Semi-final round of the competition without facing elimination. Bo performed "Charlie Brown" by Coldplay in the semi-final on 27 May 2012. will.i.am commented that Danny had "made Bo the Superstar that she is" with the staging of the performance she gave. In the results show broadcast the following day, it was revealed that of the two remaining Team Danny acts, Bo had received the most public votes and would therefore represent Team Danny in the final and compete to win the recording contract prize.

In the final on 2 June 2012, Bo sang three songs. The first was "Nothing Compares 2 U". After that she sang with her mentor Danny before Vince Kidd was announced as the act in fourth place. Post The Voice UK

In the week following The Voice UK final, Bo's independently released download Search the Night EP peaked at No.2 in the iTunes album charts, overtaking acts such as Coldplay and Paloma Faith. The 2009 release charted at No. 19 in the official UK charts via fan downloads. Soon after this, Bruce was signed to Mercury Records (home of artists such as U2 and Rihanna) and was also announced to be performing at two major British festivals: V Festival and T in the Park.

On 29 June 2012 it was announced on behalf of Bo via Twitter, Facebook and Bo's official website, that due to family illness Bo had been forced to cancel her performances at T in the Park and a secret solo show, which were to take place the following week. The representative said 'Bo is devastated and cancelling her first major festival appearance was a tough decision.'. It was later revealed that her mother, Rosamond Jane Winkley, Countess of Cardigan, had died on July 4, 2012 after a six month struggle with pancreatic cancer [1]. A statement on her official website said: 'Bo’s mother Ros passed away peacefully in the night, at home, surrounded by loved ones. Bo would like to thank all of you for the messages of love and support, they mean so much to her.She promises she will be back before too long, for now she is spending quiet time with her close friends and family'.

She performed at V Festival 2012 on the 'Virgin Underground' stage, and new material such as the song 'The Fall' was performed live. It is speculated that this song will feature on her new album.

She has also colloborated with trance artist DJ Kryder, the track 'Damaged' was previewed on BBC Radio 1 in June 2012 and is expected to be released later this year. It has already received critical acclaim.
