About Lawrence Stoughton
On 26 January 1529 he renewed his father's lease of Stoke Manor for £5 6s. 8d. per year. He entered into this agreement with his mother and step-father, but three days later they released their right to him for £20 a year. In 1547 he renewed the lease again, and on 10 June 1549 he purchased the advowson of Stoke parsonage from Henry Polsted, Esq. He made his will 10 May 1571 at Stoughton. It was proved 28 April 1572.
