Added by E. C. Nickerson about This Ancestor: Levi Higgins went to Hull's Cove, Mt, Desert, about 1770 and settled at the beach north of the point now known as Cape Levi. The cove at the beach was called Camp Cove and the point north was called Parker's Point, Mr, Higgins was a promi- nent citizen and took an active part in the organization of the plantation and town of Mt. Desert, now Eden, and held many responsible offices in each. He was one of the first board of select- men of Eden, He was second lieutenant of the militia company when the town included the whole island, and was among the vol- unteers in the unfortunate expedition against Bagaduce (now Castine, Maine), The Eden Baptist Church was organized at his house on the fifth day of July, 1799, with thirty members.
Levi Higgins was Second Lieut., Capt. Ezra Young's (7th) CO., Sixth Lincoln Co. regt. of Mass., militia, his name being in a list of officers; commissioned July 11, 1776; also Lieutenant, Capt. Daniel Sullivan's co., of volunteers; service from July 28, 1779, to Sept. 28, 1779, 2 mos. on expedition to Majorbagaduce.
