Lt.-Col. Charles Walter Villiers was born on 23 September 1873.1 He was the son of Frederick Ernest Villiers and Jane Isabella Baird.2 He married Lady Kathleen Mary Cole, daughter of Lowry Egerton Cole, 4th Earl of Enniskillen and Charlotte Marion Baird, on 1 August 1903.1 He died on 3 September 1938 at age 64.1

He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.2 He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He was decorated with the award of the Order of the White Eagle of Serbia (5th Class).2 He was decorated with the award of the Order of the Redeemer of Greece (3rd Class).2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Coldstream Guards (Special Reserve).1 He was decorated with the award of the Croix de Guerre.2 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was admitted to Royal Company Archers.2 He was invested as a Companion, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.).2 Children of Lt.-Col.
