Lois, along with her mother and siblings, was captured by Shawnee Indians in 1763, at their Virginia home. Lois’ father, Frederick Michael, was killed during what has become known as the Muddy Creek massacre.Lois and most of the rest of her family were released during a negotiation about a year after their capture, and she and her mother and siblings returned to Virginia. Family tradition says that Lois later married a man named Peter Van Bibber.
