Laurent "Lorenzo" Stampfler (15 Aug 1825 - 11 Feb 1890) was born in Alsace-Lorraine, immigrated to the United States with or soon after his brother. He enlisted in Co M, Second Michigan Calvary in 1861(needs verification). He was killed when the wagon he was driving went out of control. The newspaper story states "his brains were dashed about the roadway".

Parents: Jean Stampfler (30 Aug 1783 - unknown) and Barbe BAUR.

Marriage: Marie TROXLER (unknown - 11 Jun 1890) on or around 15 Nov 1858 (source #1)

Children:

1. Mary C "Mae" STAMPFLER (30/31 May 1870/1871) who never married.
2. Josephine Rose STAMPFLER (10 Jul 1871 - 25 Oct 1893) married her first cousin Charles S Stampfler (28 Nov 1869 - 26 Dec 1938) on 15 Nov 1893.
