Lot Dean Lockwood came to the Philippines, belonging to the later waves of American teachers. He married Goldie Elizabeth Donhan on 19 September 1919. Sadly, she died barely a year later in Manila on July 1920. He remarried in 1923 -- his new wife, Bertha. His experiences as a teacher in foreign barrios were documented in the anthology "Tales of the American Teachers in the Philippines" published in 1959.
