From Hadler, 1942, pg. 77:
apparently lived in N.Y. City some time before 1701 and as late as 1703. The Schermerhorn family conducted a shipping business between Albany and New York, as early as 1681 and as late as 1702. The may account for Lucas' temporary residence and marriage in N.Y. City. He removed to Dutchess County N.Y. between 1703 and 1706. In 1711, Lucas was living in Raritan, N.J. where his brother Ryer owned a substantial property. In 1715, Lucas' name appears on the muster-roll of Capt. Thomas Farmer's Regt. of N.J. Militia. In 1725, Lucas was one of the three ruling Church Masters at the Reading Ref. Dutch Ch.
