About Luke Standefer

Thomas Jones 1ts Lieut., Joshua Rentfro 2nd Lieut. and William Standefer, Ensign. Joseph Jones is appointed 1st Lieut. Luke Standefer 2nd Lieut. and Wm. Manifee, Ensign under Capt. Thomas Haile."
Luke farmed in Marion County until 1830 at which time he took his family to Arkansas. Arkansas as part of the Louisiana Purchase(1803) had become a territory and low priced land was available. He decided to join some cousins who had gone to northwest Arkansas in 1828. He outfitted an ox-wagon and headed for Arkansas with his wife and four children.
