Luther Nelson Edgerton was born at Hawley, Massachusetts on May 9, 1829, the third son of Harvey and Hannah (Nelson) Edgerton. He was no doubt named after his maternal grandfather, Luther Nelson. During his infancy, Luther’s parents removed from Massachusetts and settled in North Royalton, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Luther resided in northeastern Ohio for the remainder of his life – in North Royalton and Hinckley (Medina County). He made his living as a carpenter.
