About Lydia Markham (Macomber)

Lydia Maria (Macomber) (Luce) Markham. The Macomber genealogy says of Lydia and her husband Ephraim, "They joined the Mormons, went to Salt Lake City, and were never heard from."

Her husband is on the 1851 Cummings Company. Lydia and her children came to Utah in 1848 or 1849. Church records prove they arrived before 7 April 1850, when her daughter Ester Ann Luce received a patriarchal blessing in Salt Lake. A daughter, Caroline, was married in Utah February 1851 and the other children are on the 1856 Census. (Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel database).

The idea that she and her children came to Utah in 1850 probably stems from her later marriage to Stephen Markham, who led a company to Utah that year.
