The "Townsville Daily Bulletin" of Tuesday 29 September 1925 relates:

"WEST END STATE SCHOOL BALL. A very successful children's ball was held in the School of Arts on Friday night when 400 or 500 children dress ed in fancy costume made a very pleasing sight. The hall was nicely decorated and an energetic band of workers attended to the supper and other arrangements. Following are the list of fancy sets and individual frocks worn:- ...Babes in the Wood: ...M. Newsholme [Mabel]... ...D. Newsholme [Doris] Orange and Lemon..."
