About Marcial "Baby" Ama
Marcial "Baby" Ama wa born in Tondo, Manila. He was incarcerated for theft; and earned the nickname "Baby" because of his boyish looks. Despite the abuse he received in his early days in prison, he emerged as the leader of his own gang -- "Sige Sige". In 1958, Baby Ama led the largest riot in the history of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, Philippines, with the death of nine inmates (one was beheaded). He was electrocuted on 04 October 1961, even after his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. He gained folk hero status when his life was fictionalized into a movie in 1976, starring Rudy Fernandez.
