Marcus Lisser was a resistance fighter. His parents were Alexander and Vogeltje Lisser. He was a member of the CPN (Communist Party of the Netherlands), which had been banned by the Nazis, and he was involved in producing and distributing the illegal paper De Waarheid. In September 1941, Marcus was arrested in connection with his work for the resistance. Marcus Lisser was married and had three children.
